Ocean Gold Seafoods in Westport has provided a matching grant of $10,000 for the new Westport Timberland Library, even though library supporters were not able to fully match the funds. “They graciously donated it anyway,” said Dorothy Adkins, the Friends of the Westport Timberland Library president. - The Daily World
Update! - 1/30/08 Ocean Gold's investment in new offloading system for 2007 Whiting/Sardine Season pays off
Welcome to the Ocean Gold Seafoods corporate website. Please feel free to look around and learn about who we are. We have been an active participant in the Pacific Coast seafood processing industry for over ten years. We began as Merino’s Seafoods, a small buyer and processor of Dungeness crab, in August of 1990, and over the years we have developed into one of the largest multi-species processors of crab, fish, and other seafoods on the Pacific Coast of the United States.
Since our company's conception in August of 1990 we have grown from a small crab offloading station with less then ten employees to operating the largest whiting-freezing facility on the Pacific Coast with well over six hundred employees. Our group of companies also indirectly provides thousands of jobs all along the Pacific Coast.
Our aggressive growth philosophy is shared throughout the company as we constantly develop new business opportunities with emerging markets and fisheries. Through our marketing partnership with Pacific Seafoods Group, we have grown the global market for Pacific Whiting exponentially and, as a company, we have transformed the expectation of quality in that market. Year after year we have improved the quality of our product and in doing so, have challenged our competitors as well as ourselves.
